The Tiger I was a most formidable foe for the Allies, whether on the Eastern
or Western Fronts. In numerous cases, the only way for Allied tanks to beat
the Tiger was by outmaneuvering it and getting close enough to overcome the
vastly superior range of the Tiger’s 88mm armament.
During the Battle of Kursk in 1943, many Russian tank crews fought at point
blank range against their German foes, even resorting to ramming German tanks
in some cases.
This diorama scene features a Tiger I with an unusual camouflage scheme locked
in mortal combat with a T-34/76 Mod. 1940 painted in a distinctive three-color
camouflage scheme.
