One of the tanks of the division is the subject of a Dragon Armor release. The
subject is a Sherman M4A1(76)W, and is based on accurate and popular predecessors
in the 1/72 scale Dragon Armor range. Named “Elowee”, the tank is armed with
the more powerful 76mm gun, plus the original had wet stowage to protect stored
ammunition rounds. Generally, Allied tanks came in a monotone color, but Elowee
has a very interesting two-color camouflage scheme, with black bands sprayed
over the olive drab base coat. Incidentally, soldiers of this division also
wore camouflage uniforms for a time before abandoning them because of the danger
of being mistaken as Germans! The M4A1 also carries a large white star on the
turret top for identification purposes. As is normal for Dragon Armor’s high-quality
models, this tank is finished with realistic weathering effects. This model
is ready to enter modelers’ collections, direct from its campaign to liberate
France!

Nicknamed “Hell on Wheels”, the 2nd Armored Division of the U.S. Army began

Peninsular before forming the right flank of Operation Cobra, the breakout from
Normandy. The division played a pivotal role in this assault, before racing
across France, Belgium and into Germany.
