The Boeing 747 is an iconic passenger aircraft, and the manufacturer is now working on the fourth generation of this enduring design. Known as the 747-8 and announced in 2005, it will be the longest passenger airliner in the world at 76.25m. The fuselage has been lengthened by some 5.6m and the wings redesigned to be thicker and deeper to improve efficiency. The 747-8 will use General Electric GEnx turbofan engines, and its maximum takeoff weight is 442 tonnes.
Dragon Wings is proud to announce a 1/400 scale replica of this brand new Boeing 747-8. A model of the freighter variant was issued last year (Item No.56220), and now comes the passenger version. Assembly of the very first Boeing 747-8I (“I” denotes Intercontinental) was completed in February 2011, and it had its official rollout ceremony on February 13, 2011 at Everett in Washington State. The first deliveries should take place later this year, but in the meantime this Dragon Wings replica wears the livery of the rollout aircraft. The revised shape is accurately replicated and the markings are precisely rendered. Dragon Wings brings this new model of a new aircraft!
