Dragon’s rapidly expanding range of 1/6 scale weapon systems are a real hit with collectors. Manufactured with breathtaking realism, this scale lends itself to creating fully detailed miniature replicas. The latest weapon to join the range is an M1919 .30-cal Browning machinegun. This famous weapon was developed by John Browning from the M1917 water-cooled machinegun. Usually operated by a crew of two, the air-cooled M1919 served widely with U.S. forces in WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
The M1919 was commonly deployed in the weapons platoon of infantry companies. For infantry use, the weapon was mounted on a low-slung tripod, plus it was often mounted on vehicles such as jeeps and tanks. Dragon’s 1/6 scale model is mounted on an accurately proportioned tripod, its cleverly constructed mechanism allowing the MG to be positioned according to the modeler’s wishes, whether elevated up or down, or traversed left or right. The weapon can just as easily be separated from the tripod. The model also comes with an ammo box and realistic-looking ammo belt. For even greater versatility, the kit can be built as either an M1919A4 or M1919A6 variant – the former was the most common variant used in WWII and post-war, while the latter was a lighter version designed for infantry use. As such, the M1919A6 had a buttstock, longer barrel and bipod. This MG adds up to an outstanding model worthy of prominent display by itself or with appropriate gunner figures! The fact that it’s a 2-in-1 kit makes it even more appetizing!
